Quarterback Accuracy Drills for the Cavemen
At American Fork High School, quarterback accuracy is key to success in the 6A division. To improve their skills, quarterbacks will focus on the 'Target Tunnel' drill. This drill involves setting up five small targets (cones or small tires) in a tunnel-like formation, spaced 5 yards apart. Quarterbacks will start at one end of the tunnel and throw to each target, focusing on accuracy and footwork. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'step into the throw' and 'follow through with your eyes.' This drill translates to game performance by improving quarterbacks' ability to read defenses and make quick, accurate throws. By practicing in this tunnel-like formation, quarterbacks will develop the skills necessary to succeed in the fast-paced 6A division.
