Unlocking Corner Canyon Chargers Tight End Potential with the 'Chain Reaction' Drill
As the Corner Canyon Chargers prepare for the upcoming 6A season, tight end development is a key focus. To improve their blocking and receiving skills, the team will incorporate the 'Chain Reaction' drill into their summer training. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players will line up in a tight formation, with the quarterback at the center. On the signal, the tight end will block the defensive end, while the quarterback hands off to a running back, who will then block the defensive tackle. The tight end will then release and run a 5-yard route, focusing on quickness and agility. Coaching cues emphasize 'hands inside' for the block and 'speed to the spot' for the route. This drill translates to game performance by simulating the chaos of a live snap and requiring the tight end to adapt to changing situations.
