Unlock Your WR Potential with the 'Route Runner' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Lone Peak KnightsยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 6A powerhouses like Lone Peak Knights, wide receivers need to be in top physical and mental shape to dominate on the field. One key drill to help achieve this is the 'Route Runner' workout. This drill focuses on building speed, agility, and route-running precision. Set up a 20-yard course with cones or markers, featuring three different routes: a 5-yard out, a 10-yard slant, and a 15-yard deep post. Have your WRs perform 3 sets of 5 reps each, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Quick feet, quick hands,' and 'Stay low, stay fast.' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly change direction, accelerate, and maintain control of the ball in tight spaces. By incorporating the 'Route Runner' drill into your pre-season training, you'll see a noticeable improvement in your WRs' overall speed and agility.
