Power Position: A Drill for 6A OL Dominance

๐Ÿ“ Skyridge FalconsยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Skyridge Falcons prepare for the upcoming 6A season, their linemen need to be in top shape to take on the toughest opponents in the state. One drill that can help OL players build the strength and agility they need is the 'Med Ball Slam.' This exercise targets the core, legs, and upper body, all critical areas for linemen. To run the drill, set up a series of 3-4 cones in a zigzag pattern. Hold a 20-30 pound med ball and perform a slam at each cone, focusing on explosive power and quick change of direction. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coach your linemen to 'explode' into each slam, keeping their core tight and their feet moving quickly. This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, strength, and agility โ€“ essential for OL players to dominate in the trenches.
