FridayNightPulse: 6A DE Drill for Explosive Pass Rush

๐Ÿ“ American Fork CavemenยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the top 6A programs like American Fork Cavemen, defensive end players are looking for an edge in their pass rush. The 'Rip and Rebound' drill is a game-changer for DEs. Set up a series of cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, then rip laterally to the next cone, focusing on speed and agility. Upon reaching the next cone, they rebound back to the starting point, emphasizing explosive power and acceleration. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'rip it, rebound it' and 'explosive, not explosive, EXPLOSIVE.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a DE's ability to quickly change direction and generate power off the line, making them a nightmare for opposing linemen.
