Quick Release: A QB Drill for Skyridge Falcons and 6A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Skyridge FalconsยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Skyridge Falcons prepare for the upcoming season, quarterback development is crucial for success. One drill that can help improve a QB's accuracy and decision-making is the 'Quick Release' drill. Set up a series of cones 5 yards apart, with a target at the far end. The QB starts at the first cone, drops back 3-4 steps, and releases the ball to the target. Focus on a quick, smooth release, avoiding over-rotation and keeping the eyes on the target. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, increasing to 4 sets of 15 reps as the QB becomes more comfortable. This drill translates to game performance by improving the QB's ability to quickly diagnose defenses and deliver the ball to the correct receiver, all while maintaining a safe throwing position.
