FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Skyridge Falcons Linebacker Drill

๐Ÿ“ Skyridge FalconsยทSaturday, July 25, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For 6A programs like the Skyridge Falcons, developing the skills of their linebackers is crucial to success on the field. One effective drill to improve their agility and reaction time is the 'Shuttle Shuffle.' This drill involves setting up two cones 10 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards beyond the second one. Players start at the first cone, then shuffle to the second cone, and immediately change direction to the third cone. They repeat this process for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include keeping the feet low and quick, and using the inside foot to cut. This drill translates to game performance by improving the linebacker's ability to quickly close gaps and make tackles. It also enhances their spatial awareness and reaction time, allowing them to read the offense more effectively.
