FridayNightPulse: Bingham Miners Linebacker Drill
This summer, Bingham Miners linebackers are working on a crucial drill to improve their pursuit angles and tackling efficiency. The 'L-Drill' involves three sets of 10 reps. Start with a defensive lineman or a blocking sled at the 10-yard line. The linebacker begins at the 20-yard line and must quickly close the distance, using a 'chop' step to take away the blocker's angle. Upon making contact, the linebacker must immediately transition into a tackling stance, using a 'load' step to generate power. Coaching cues include 'chop, close, load, and finish.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing linebackers to practice explosive pursuit and efficient tackling in a game-like scenario. By mastering the L-Drill, Bingham Miners linebackers will be better equipped to make plays in the backfield and limit opponents' rushing yards.
