FridayNightPulse: Quarterback Readiness Drill for 6A Programs
Quarterbacks at 6A programs like American Fork Cavemen need to be prepared for the physical demands of the season. One effective drill to improve their performance is the 'Rapid Release' rep series. This drill targets the quarterback's ability to quickly release the ball and maintain accuracy under pressure. To set up the drill, divide the quarterbacks into pairs with one quarterback as the 'signal caller' and the other as the 'receiver.' The signal caller will call a play and the receiver will line up 10 yards downfield. The signal caller will then drop back and release the ball to the receiver. The receiver will catch the ball and immediately return to the line of scrimmage. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'quick release,' 'follow through,' and 'eyes on the target.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the quarterback's ability to quickly process information and release the ball accurately, resulting in more completions and a higher level of success on the field.
