Spartans Promote Assistant to Coordinator Role

๐Ÿ“ Salem SpartansยทSaturday, July 4, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Salem Spartans have elevated assistant coach Ryan Jenkins to defensive coordinator, the program announced Thursday. Jenkins, a four-year assistant, has developed a strong defensive unit that helped the Spartans post a 7-4 record in 2025. The 4A program will look to build on that success, with Jenkins' promotion expected to boost recruiting efforts. The Spartans' defense will be a key factor in their bid to win the Blue Ridge District title. Jenkins' promotion also adds depth to the coaching staff, allowing head coach Mike Smith to focus on offense. The Spartans will open the 2026 season on the road against rival Liberty, and Jenkins' unit will be under the microscope.
