Bryce Smith Commits to Texas Tech
Salem Spartans defensive end Bryce Smith, a rising senior in the Class of 2027, has committed to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Smith, a 4A prospect, chose the Red Raiders over other Power Five suitors due to their 3-4 defensive scheme, which aligns with his athletic abilities. He also cited the depth chart opportunity at defensive end, where he can contribute immediately. Additionally, Smith was drawn to Texas Tech's strong academic program, which offers a range of engineering and business majors. Smith previously held a commitment to the University of Virginia but decommitted in April after a coaching change. He attended a summer camp at Texas Tech in June, where he impressed coaches with his pass-rushing skills. Smith is expected to enroll at Texas Tech in January 2027 and participate in spring practice.
