Boosting DE Speed with the 'Shuttle Shuffle' Drill
Highland Springs Springers DEs, are you ready to take your speed to the next level? This summer, incorporate the 'Shuttle Shuffle' drill into your training regimen. This drill targets explosive acceleration, agility, and change-of-direction speed โ essential skills for dominating on the edge. Set up two cones 10 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards beyond the second. Players start at the first cone, then shuttle to the second cone, shuffling their feet quickly. Immediately, they pivot 180 degrees and shuttle back to the first cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, quick hands!' and 'Shuffle, don't run!' This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to chase down ball carriers and pursue the quarterback.
