Explosive Power for Stone Bridge Bulldogs RBs: The Box Drill
This summer, Stone Bridge Bulldogs running backs can dominate on the field with explosive power. The Box Drill is a key component of their pre-season training, and it's easy to implement. Divide the RBs into pairs, with one player as the 'boxer' and the other as the 'blocker.' Set up a box of cones 5 yards wide and 3 yards deep. The blocker starts at the edge of the box, while the boxer starts 5 yards back. On the whistle, the blocker drives into the box, and the boxer explodes through the hole, aiming for the far edge of the box. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 60 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'Drive into the box' and 'Explode through the hole.' This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to break tackles and gain extra yards after contact.
