FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Bulldozing TE's with the 'Box Out' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Stone Bridge BulldogsยทTuesday, July 28, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 5A programs like Stone Bridge Bulldogs, tight ends (TE's) need to be physical and dominant in the red zone. To improve their box out skills, we're running the 'Box Out' drill. Divide players into pairs, with one player as the TE and the other as the defender. The TE starts at the goal line, and the defender stands 5 yards away. On the whistle, the TE must box out the defender, securing position in the end zone. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Drive your feet, not your hands,' and 'Keep your head up and eyes forward.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching TEs to win physical battles and secure crucial touchdowns. It's a must-add to your summer camp and pre-season practice schedule.
