FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Westfield Bulldogs TE Drill
This summer, Westfield Bulldogs 6A tight end prospects can take their blocking to the next level with the 'Anchor and Slide' drill. Divide players into pairs, with one as the blocker and the other as the defender. The blocker starts in a three-point stance, with hands on the defender's chest. On the whistle, the blocker 'anchors' their feet and slides their hands up the defender's chest, keeping their elbows locked. The defender attempts to shed the block. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'anchor your feet' and 'slide your hands up.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the blocker's ability to control and redirect the defender, creating space for the quarterback to throw or the running back to run. By mastering the 'Anchor and Slide,' Bulldogs TEs will be a force to be reckoned with this fall.
