Tiger Takedown: WR Drill for Dominance

๐Ÿ“ Middlebury TigersยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Middlebury Tigers wide receiver coach, Mark Davis, is emphasizing a drill that will take his D-II players to the next level. The 'Tiger Takedown' drill is designed to improve WRs' ability to separate from defenders and secure contested catches. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players line up 5 yards apart, with a defender in a press alignment. On the coach's signal, the WR takes 3 steps to the inside, then bursts back to the outside, using a 'hitch' move to create separation. The defender must stay in phase, while the WR focuses on high-pointing the ball. This drill translates to game performance by teaching WRs to create space and make plays in traffic.
