Raiders Ramp Up LB Speed with 'Box Cuts' Drill
At Rutland Raiders summer camp, linebackers are honing their speed and agility with the 'Box Cuts' drill. This high-intensity workout targets the quick changes of direction and acceleration that are crucial for LBs in game situations. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps: players start at the line of scrimmage, sprint 5 yards to a designated box, then immediately change direction and sprint back to the starting point. Coaches cue players to 'cut on a dime' and 'explode out of the box.' This drill translates to game performance by improving LBs' ability to pursue and close on ball carriers in space. It also enhances their reaction time and agility, allowing them to stay with quicker opponents. By incorporating 'Box Cuts' into their training regimen, Raiders LBs are poised for a dominant season.
