Unlocking Tight End Potential: The 'Box Out' Drill
As the summer heat sets in, Fair Haven Slaters' tight ends are gearing up for a dominating season. One key drill to master is the 'Box Out', a workout that translates to improved blocking and receiving skills on the field. To run the drill, set up three stations: a 5-yard box, a 10-yard box, and a 15-yard box. Players will start at the 5-yard box, where they'll perform 3 sets of 10 reps of a box-out technique, focusing on keeping their feet shoulder-width apart and their hands inside the box. Next, they'll move to the 10-yard box, where they'll perform 3 sets of 8 reps, emphasizing proper footwork and hand placement. Finally, they'll tackle the 15-yard box, where they'll perform 3 sets of 6 reps, incorporating speed and agility. This drill will help Slaters' tight ends develop the strength, agility, and technique needed to excel in the D-III playoffs.
