Raiders' CBs Get Ready for Fall with 'Shadow' Drill
This summer, Rutland Raiders' cornerbacks are sharpening their skills with the 'Shadow' drill, a high-intensity exercise designed to improve reaction time and footwork. The drill involves a defender shadowing a receiver on a 10-yard route, focusing on staying in phase and mirroring their every move. Coaches will yell 'react' to signal a sudden change in direction, forcing the CB to quickly adjust. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'stay on their hip' and 'mirror their feet.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching CBs to stay one step ahead of receivers, even in the face of sudden changes. By mastering the 'Shadow' drill, Raiders' CBs will be ready to take on the competition this fall.
