Tiger Takedown: S Players, Get Ready for the 'Shuttle Shuffle' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Middlebury TigersยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Middlebury Tigers' Secondary Coach, Mike Smith, shares his go-to drill for D-II S players looking to improve their speed and agility. The 'Shuttle Shuffle' drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest in between sets. Players will start at one end zone, sprint 10 yards to the 10-yard line, then shuffle 5 yards to the 5-yard line, before shuffling back to the 10-yard line and repeating. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'change of direction.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time and ability to quickly change direction on the field. It's a great way to prepare S players for the fast-paced nature of D-II football.
