FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Rice Green Knights' TE Drill for Dominance

๐Ÿ“ Rice Green KnightsยทThursday, July 30, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Rice Green Knights' tight end coach, Mark Thompson, shares a critical drill for his D-II team's TEs to improve blocking and receiving skills. The 'Tight End Triangle' drill consists of three sets of 10 reps. In each set, the TE starts in a 3-point stance, then explosively drives 5 yards downfield, making a sharp cut to the right, and finally, quickly pivots to face the quarterback, who is simulating a pass. Coaching cues include 'Drive, cut, pivot, and release.' This drill translates to game performance by enhancing the TE's ability to create separation and secure passes in traffic. By incorporating the 'Tight End Triangle' drill into their summer camp, Rice's TEs will be better equipped to dominate on the field this season.
