Boosting Kicking Distance with the 'Drop and Drive' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Eastside Catholic CrusadersยทSunday, July 5, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 3A programs like Eastside Catholic Crusaders, kickers need every edge to excel. The 'Drop and Drive' drill targets the explosive power and technique required for long kicks. Set up a 30-yard line with cones marking the kicking spot and a target at the 50-yard line. Players start in a lunge position, then explosively drive through the ball, keeping their eyes on the target. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues emphasize a quick plant, powerful drive, and follow-through. This drill translates to game performance by improving kickers' ability to generate power and accuracy on long kicks. By incorporating the 'Drop and Drive' drill into summer training, kickers can develop the skills needed to dominate in the 3A classification.
