Building a Stronger O-Line: The Skyline Spartan Block-Pull Drill

๐Ÿ“ Skyline SpartansยทThursday, July 9, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Skyline Spartans are looking to dominate on the line of scrimmage this season, and a key component of their pre-season training is the Block-Pull drill. This drill is designed to improve the strength, power, and technique of their offensive linemen. The drill consists of three sets of 8 reps: 1) Players start in a three-point stance, 2) explode off the line and block a defender, 3) immediately pull the defender towards the quarterback. Coaching cues include: 'Drive your feet, not your hands' and 'Pull with your legs, not your back.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a lineman's ability to generate power and speed off the line, and to quickly secure the edge and create a seam for the quarterback.
