FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Development for 4A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Skyline SpartansยทFriday, July 10, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the 4A level, tight ends are crucial for success on the gridiron. To improve their skills, we're focusing on a drill that targets their blocking and receiving abilities. The 'Box Drill' involves four stations: a blocking station, a receiving station, a route-running station, and a agility station. For TEs, start with 3 sets of 3 reps at each station, resting 30 seconds between sets. At the blocking station, have TEs line up in a 3-point stance and explode into a defender, focusing on hand placement and footwork. At the receiving station, use a target dummy and focus on ball security and body control. This drill translates to game performance by improving TEs' ability to block defenders and secure passes in traffic.
