Graham-Kapowsin Eagles DEs: Master the 'Shuttle Slide' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Graham-Kapowsin EaglesยทMonday, July 13, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve speed, agility, and reaction time, DEs at 4A programs like Graham-Kapowsin Eagles can benefit from the 'Shuttle Slide' drill. Set up two cones 10 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards beyond the second. Players start at the first cone, then sprint to the second, slide to the third, and immediately return to the first cone. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by mimicking the quick changes of direction DEs face when rushing the quarterback or containing the edge. It also improves their ability to accelerate and decelerate quickly, making them more effective pass rushers.
