Crusader Cuts: Building Speed and Agility for 3A Running Backs
The Eastside Catholic Crusaders are gearing up for another successful season, and FridayNightPulse has the inside scoop on a key drill to get your 3A running backs in top shape. Introducing the 'Lateral Shuffle Crossover' drill. This high-intensity exercise targets speed, agility, and change of direction โ essential skills for dominating on the gridiron. To set up the drill, divide your players into pairs with cones spaced 5 yards apart. Have each player start in a 3-point stance, then perform a lateral shuffle to the cone, followed by a crossover step and a 5-yard sprint to the next cone. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Keep your feet light, stay low, and explode out of the crossover step.' This drill translates to game performance by improving your running backs' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, making them nearly unstoppable.
