Building a Stronger 3A OL: Bellevue Wolverines' Pre-Season Drill
This summer, the Bellevue Wolverines' coaching staff is focusing on developing their 3A OL players with a key drill: the 'Plyometric Box Press.' The objective is to improve explosive power and speed off the line. Here's how to run the drill: 3 sets of 10 reps with a 30-second rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively press a plyometric box (24-30 inches high) with both hands, quickly returning to the starting position. Coaching cues include: 'Drive through your heels,' 'Keep your core tight,' and 'Transfer your weight to the balls of your feet.' This drill translates to game performance by enhancing OL's ability to quickly generate power and push defenders off the line, giving their QB a clear passing lane. It's a game-changer for 3A programs like Bellevue seeking to dominate in the trenches.
