Boosting Kicking Game: The 'Drive-Thru' Drill for 4A K Players

๐Ÿ“ Skyline SpartansยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The 'Drive-Thru' drill is a high-intensity exercise designed to improve 4A kickers' accuracy and power. This drill targets the muscles responsible for generating speed and control on kickoffs and field goals. To set up, place five cones in a zigzag pattern, 10 yards apart. K players will start at the first cone, drive through the course, and then kick a ball through a target (a small goal or a designated area). Repeat for 3 sets of 5 reps. Coaching cues include: 'Drive through the cone' and 'Follow through with your plant foot.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a kicker's ability to maintain balance and generate power while navigating through tight spaces. It also enhances their accuracy by forcing them to focus on ball placement.
