FridayNightPulse: LB Drill for 4A Dominance - Graham-Kapowsin Eagles Style
This summer, Graham-Kapowsin Eagles linebackers will be putting in the work with our 'Shuttle Stance Shuffle' drill. Designed to improve agility, reaction time, and tackling technique, this drill is a must-have for any 4A program. To set up, divide your linebackers into pairs with one player as the 'ball carrier' and the other as the tackler. The ball carrier will start in a shuttle stance (feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent) and the tackler will line up 5 yards away. On the whistle, the ball carrier will shamble forward 3 yards, then quickly change direction and shamble back to the starting point. The tackler must react and make a tackle. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cue: 'Shuffle, don't run!' This drill translates to game performance by forcing linebackers to quickly change direction and make tackles in tight spaces.
