Crusader Crush: Building Beastly Linemen with Eastside Catholic's OL Drill
This summer, OL players at 3A programs like Eastside Catholic Crusaders are getting ready to take on the competition with a brutal yet effective drill: the 'Crusader Crush'. The goal is to build strength, speed, and agility in the trenches. Here's how to run the drill: Set up a series of 5-6 'crush' blocks, spaced 5 yards apart. Players will start at the line of scrimmage and sprint to the first block, where they'll perform a 3-point stance before exploding into a block. Repeat for 3 sets of 5 reps. Coaching cues include: 'Bend the knees, not the back' and 'Drive through the block, don't just push'. This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, hand placement, and overall power. By the time the season starts, Crusader linemen will be unstoppable.
