FridayNightPulse: Tight End Training Tip for Kaukauna Ghosts

At the 5A level, tight ends need to be versatile and athletic. To improve their blocking and receiving skills, try the 'Rope Drill' at your next summer camp. Set up two cones 5 yards apart, with a rope or resistance band stretched between them. Divide your tight ends into pairs, with one player on each side of the rope. On the whistle, they must cross the rope, using a combination of speed and agility to get past their opponent. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cue: 'Cut the rope, not the corner.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the tight end's ability to quickly change direction and get open in traffic. It also enhances their hand-eye coordination and reaction time.
