Summer Training Tip: Tight End Development for 6A Programs
๐ Brookfield Central LancersยทThursday, July 2, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider
To improve route running and separation for tight ends at 6A programs like Brookfield Central Lancers, try the 'Quick Release' drill. Set up three stations: a 5-yard line, a 10-yard line, and a 15-yard line. Divide the tight ends into groups of three and have them line up at the 5-yard line. On the coach's signal, they must release quickly to the 10-yard line, then immediately pivot and release again to the 15-yard line. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'eyes on the target,' and 'release the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching tight ends to quickly separate from defenders and find open spaces in the secondary.
