Waunakee Warriors CBs: Master the 'Backpedal to the Ball' Drill

This drill is designed to improve the speed and agility of cornerbacks at 4A programs like Waunakee Warriors. Set up a series of 5-7 cones in a zig-zag pattern, with the first cone 5 yards from the starting point. Have the CB start in a backpedal position, then quickly change direction to the first cone. From there, they should backpedal to the next cone, and so on. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'keep your eyes on the ball' and 'stay low and balanced.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the CB's ability to quickly change direction and stay with receivers down the field.
