FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Elevate Your Tight End Game with the 'SEAL' Drill
At 7A programs like Muskego Warriors, Tight Ends (TEs) must be prepared to block, receive, and create mismatches. The 'SEAL' drill targets these skills, improving technique and game-readiness. Set up a 10-yard line with cones or markers. Divide TEs into pairs, with one player as the blocker and the other as the defender. On 'go,' the blocker executes a seal block (hands inside, feet wide), then releases into a 5-yard sprint. The defender must react and pursue. Repeat for 3 sets of 5 reps. Coaching cues: 'Seal the edge,' 'release the block,' and 'finish the play.' This drill translates to game performance by enhancing the TE's ability to seal the edge on run plays, create separation on pass routes, and make adjustments at the line of scrimmage.
