Building a Stronger Wall: A 5A OL Drill for Kaukauna Ghosts
The Kaukauna Ghosts' 5A program is gearing up for another strong season, and their offensive linemen are focusing on building a dominant wall. One key drill to achieve this is the 'Partner Push-Pull' exercise. Pair OL players up, with one player in a pass-blocking stance and the other in a drive-blocking stance. On the coach's signal, the pass-blocker will push their partner forward, while the drive-blocker pulls back. The pair will then switch roles. Complete 3 sets of 8 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include maintaining a wide base and keeping hands inside the numbers. This drill translates to game performance by improving OL players' ability to work together as a unit, generate power, and control the line of scrimmage.
