Unlocking Dominance: Spring Mills Cardinals' DE Drill for Summer Camp

๐Ÿ“ Spring Mills CardinalsยทThursday, July 2, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Defensive End (DE) players at AA programs like Spring Mills Cardinals need to develop speed, agility, and strength to outmaneuver opponents. One effective drill to achieve this is the 'Rapid Fire' agility ladder exercise. Set up 5-6 agility ladders in a zig-zag pattern. DE players will perform 3 sets of 10 reps, moving through the ladders at maximum speed. Coaching cues include: 'Quick feet, quick hands,' and 'Keep your eyes up, stay focused.' This drill translates to game performance by improving DE's ability to rapidly change direction, chase down ball carriers, and stay in front of blockers. To add an extra challenge, incorporate a 'defend the edge' component, where DE players must maintain their speed and agility while fighting off a blocker.
