Spring Mills' Cade Young Commits to SMU
Spring Mills (W.Va.) linebacker Cade Young has committed to SMU for the Class of 2026. Young, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker, chose the Mustangs over other Division I offers. The Spring Mills Cardinals' standout linebacker is projected to contribute immediately in SMU's defensive scheme, which emphasizes speed and athleticism. With a strong linebacker corps returning in 2026, Young is expected to compete for a starting role. SMU's academic program, which offers a strong business and engineering curriculum, also factored into Young's decision. Young had previously considered a commitment to another school but ultimately chose SMU. The Mustangs' commitment marks Young's first Division I offer. Spring Mills head coach will not comment on Young's recruitment process. Young's commitment will be officially announced at a later date. Young was a key contributor for the Cardinals in 2025, recording 75 tackles and two sacks. He is expected to be a top performer in the AA classification in 2026.
