Summer Speed for St. Marys Blue Devils WRs: The 5-Yard Shuffle Drill

๐Ÿ“ St. Marys Blue DevilsยทSaturday, July 18, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This week, St. Marys Blue Devils WRs will focus on the 5-Yard Shuffle Drill to improve their speed and agility. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players will start at the 5-yard line and shuffle to the 10-yard line, then back to the 5-yard line, mimicking the quick changes of direction in a game. Coaching cues include keeping the feet low and the weight forward, with a focus on quick, light steps. This drill translates to game performance by allowing WRs to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, creating separation from defenders. By incorporating the 5-Yard Shuffle Drill into their summer training, Blue Devils WRs will be better equipped to make plays down the field.
