Game-Changing CB Drill for AA Programs: 'The Circle Cut'

๐Ÿ“ Bridgeport IndiansยทMonday, July 20, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For cornerbacks at AA programs like Bridgeport Indians, developing quick reactions and tight coverage skills is crucial. Introduce 'The Circle Cut' drill to improve their game performance. This drill consists of three sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Players start in a 3-yard depth, facing a receiver at 5-yard intervals. On the whistle, the receiver runs a 5-yard out route, and the CB must quickly react, cutting inside the receiver's radius to stay in coverage. Coaching cues include 'inside the circle, eyes on the receiver' and 'stay on their hip.' This drill translates to game performance by improving CBs' ability to quickly close gaps and maintain tight coverage on receivers. By mastering 'The Circle Cut,' Bridgeport Indians' cornerbacks will be better equipped to handle the physical demands of AA football.
