Building a Stronger Bridge: The 3-Box Drill for AAAA OL Players

๐Ÿ“ Morgantown MohigansยทMonday, July 20, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Summer is in full swing, and AAAA programs like Morgantown Mohigans are gearing up for another competitive season. For offensive linemen, building strength and agility is crucial for success on the field. One effective drill to incorporate into your training regimen is the 3-Box Drill. This exercise targets the player's ability to quickly change direction and maintain balance while maintaining proper footwork. Set up three boxes or cones in a zig-zag pattern, approximately 5 yards apart. Players will start at the first box, perform a 3-step drop, and then change direction to the next box, repeating the process for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'keep your feet light' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a player's ability to adjust to blitzes and quickly get into position to block.
