Bridgeport Indians OLs: Mastering the 'Pancake Drill' for Dominant Play
This summer, Bridgeport Indians OLs can take their game to the next level with the 'Pancake Drill'. The goal: develop the strength and technique to pancake defenders and clear a path for their star running backs. To run the drill, set up a blocking sled or a tackling dummy. Divide OLs into pairs, with one player in a stance and the other in a drive position. On the whistle, the drive player explodes forward, aiming to 'pancake' their opponent. Focus on proper footwork, hand placement, and body positioning. Aim for 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues: 'Drive your feet, not your hands' and 'Keep your head up, eyes up'. This drill translates to game performance by improving OLs' ability to quickly and effectively clear a path for their RBs, allowing for explosive plays and increased scoring opportunities.
