Thunder Basin Bolts DEs: Master the 'Rip and Go' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Thunder Basin BoltsยทMonday, July 13, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To dominate the defensive line, 4A DEs at Thunder Basin Bolts must develop explosive acceleration and agility. The 'Rip and Go' drill targets these skills. Set up cones in a zigzag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, then rip their feet to the next cone, focusing on quick foot speed and body positioning. After 3 reps, have them change direction and 'go' to the next cone, emphasizing explosive acceleration. Repeat for 3 sets. Coaching cues: 'Rip your feet, don't slide!' and 'Accelerate to the next cone!' This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to quickly change direction and pursue the quarterback. It also enhances their agility and speed, allowing them to stay with faster opponents.
