FridayNightPulse: Bolting Ahead with Thunder Basin's RB Drill
At Thunder Basin High School, the Bolts' running backs are gearing up for the 2026 season with a high-intensity drill that targets speed, agility, and power. The 'Bolt Through' drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive through a series of 5 cones spaced 5 yards apart. As they approach each cone, they must quickly change direction, keeping their eyes up and shoulders squared. Coaching cues emphasize 'quick feet' and 'aggressive penetration.' This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to accelerate through holes and make defenders miss in space. By incorporating the 'Bolt Through' drill into their pre-season training, Thunder Basin's RBs will be ready to bolt ahead of the competition come kickoff.
