Quarterback Quick Release Drill for Thunder Basin Bolts
As the Thunder Basin Bolts prepare for the upcoming 4A football season, quarterback development is crucial. One drill that can help improve quick release and accuracy is the 'Rapid Fire' drill. Divide the quarterbacks into pairs, with one player as the receiver and the other as the passer. The passer will stand 10 yards behind the receiver, who will be facing them. The coach will call out a series of numbers (1-5) and the passer must release the ball within 2 seconds of the number being called. The receiver will then catch the ball and immediately return to the starting position. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'snap to release' and 'eyes on the target.' This drill translates to game performance by forcing the quarterback to quickly process information and release the ball before the defense can react, resulting in more accurate and effective passes.
