FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Mustang Dash for Natrona County Running Backs

๐Ÿ“ Natrona County MustangsยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Natrona County High School, we're gearing up for another strong season with our 4A Mustangs. For running backs, it's essential to develop the speed, agility, and power needed to excel in the backfield. Introducing the 'Mustang Dash' drill, designed to improve RBs' ability to change direction quickly and accelerate through small spaces. Set up four cones in a zig-zag pattern, with the first and last cones 5 yards apart. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on explosive acceleration through the first cone and sharp cuts through the second and third cones. Coaching cue: 'Quick feet, quick hands.' The Mustang Dash translates to game performance by allowing RBs to quickly change direction and burst through holes in the defense.
