Speed and Agility Drill for 4A S Players: 'Shuttle-Box' Workout
The Shuttle-Box drill is a high-intensity, plyometric exercise designed to improve the speed and agility of Secondary players at 4A programs like Natrona County Mustangs. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start at one end of a 10-yard box, then sprint to the other end, change direction, and accelerate back to the starting point. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'explosive acceleration,' and 'aggressive change of direction.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a player's ability to rapidly change direction and accelerate in pursuit of the ball carrier. By incorporating the Shuttle-Box drill into their pre-season training, S players can develop the speed and agility needed to make game-changing plays.
