Ohio High School Coaches Weigh In on Transfer Portal Trend

As Appalachian State adds 35 transfer portal newcomers, Ohio high school football coaches are watching closely. The trend could impact the Buckeye State's top talent, with some local stars considering similar moves. Take Lakewood's star quarterback, Tyler Brown, who's been drawing interest from top programs nationwide. 'It's a game-changer,' said Lakewood coach, Mike Rocco. 'If our top players start jumping to college programs mid-year, it'll be tough to keep them in Ohio.' Meanwhile, Toledo's St. Francis de Sales is preparing for the possibility of losing top recruits to the transfer portal. 'We're advising our players to stay focused on their senior year and not get distracted by the hype,' said St. Francis de Sales coach, Mike Gill.
