As the University of Nebraska makes waves with the announcement of their women's flag football program, local coaches in Virginia are taking notice. 'It's a game-changer,' says Oakton High School's Coach Thompson. 'We've had talented female players like senior quarterback, Emily Wilson, who could've easily gone on to play at the collegiate level if we had a women's program.' With the growing popularity of women's flag football at the national level, VA high school coaches are optimistic about the potential for more opportunities for female athletes in the state. 'It's only a matter of time before we see a similar program here in Virginia,' adds Coach Thompson.
