The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has finalized its realignment for the Houston area, impacting several high school football teams. The changes, announced in June, will take effect for the 2026 season. According to the Houston Chronicle, Alief Elsik and Alief Hastings will move to District 23-6A, while Alief Taylor will join District 24-6A. The UIL realignment aims to balance team sizes and competitiveness across the state. Houston area teams will face new opponents in the upcoming season. The changes are part of the UIL's periodic realignment process, which occurs every two years. The 2026 high school football season is set to kick off in late August.
