Unlocking Separation: A WR Drill for 4A Programs

๐Ÿ“ South Anchorage WolverinesยทFriday, July 3, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For 4A wide receivers like those at South Anchorage Wolverines, mastering the 'Route Runner's Repeat' drill can be a game-changer. This high-intensity workout targets the quick changes of direction and speed that are essential for beating defenders in the open field. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Start by having the receiver line up 5 yards off the line, then sprint to a designated spot 10 yards downfield. Immediately pivot 90 degrees and sprint back to the starting point. As they run, emphasize proper footwork and body positioning with coaching cues like 'keep your eyes up' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the receiver's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, leaving defenders grasping at air.
